Hi Guys n Gals,

Not only was I fortunate enough to make it down to the Cactus Classic this year, but I was able to pit with the X-Factory team as well.
Something I learned that I wanted to share. Looking at both Brian Kinwald and Paul Sinclare's Buggys, I noticed something I hadn't seen before.
They had ground down the front side of the Casterblock and spaced it forward on the outer hingepin by 0.100".
I asked Paul what they had cooking. He explained that it allowed them to run the rear hubs forward for more forward bite,
and gave the car more grip in the front. I thought to myself that would be something to try when I get home.
I did the modification (Completely reversible with a standard set of caster blocks) and took it down to the track to try it out.
I've never had this much steering out of the car with the rear end so planted! I had to loosen the slipper a bit as the wheelies were almost unavoidable.

If you have some time and a spare set of caster blocks. Give it a try!

Doh! Forgot to mention some material needs to be removed from the back of the A-Arm to clear the wheels. This can be seen in the photos as well.

Kinwald's Car

Brad

How tight do you do your diff?

Hi guys,I thought i`d try out the forum here, ive just done the first 4 meetings with my X6sqd.I bought it second hand and have replaced several bits and bobs. Before my first outing with it I swopped the diff from my B4 as the one in the X6 was very rough. The B4 was a brand new kit to me and after the first rebuild of the diff I fitted ceramic balls, all very nice and smooth ect as you all are aware, but a caracteristic that has surfaced is a grabbing effect of the front end/steering on the first corner of our track.Imagine the front wheels doing their job as normal (a bit of understeer)and then the rear end takes over and pushes the car straight for a split second after which the front will just recover some grip and then the same happens again,so in actual fact i`m controlling the steering with the throttle more than the steering!!So my thoughts turned to the diff,it was set as per the AE manual,up tight and back off 1/8th of a turn.I`m thinking this is too tight and ive let it off,and indeed it turns here at home on the carpet indoors much happier, but of course i wont know what its like on the track untill we visit next week.I was just wondering if anyone has any specific adjustments they would recommend,ie back off half a turn or similar or another method you may recommend-obviously too slack and you have no drive and a slipping diff,I look forward to your replies, cheers Pete Chapman (GB).......-Ive just searched for info and found a great video series on RC10.COM,all my questions answered there,it certainly looks like mine was too tight adjusting it with the AE manual method, diff service and rebuild tomorrow!!!
